  1. Determine the normal force, shear force, and moment at a section through point C. Take P = 8 kN. (P1)
  2. The cable will fail when subjected to a tension of 2 kN. Determine the largest vertical load P the frame will support and calculate the internal normal force, shear force, and moment at the cross section through point C for this loading.(P1)
  3. Determine the resultant internal loadings on the cross section through point C. Assume the reactions at the supports A and B are vertical. (P2)
  4. Determine the resultant internal loadings on the cross section through point D. Assume the reactions at the supports A and B are vertical. (P2)

      5. The rigid beam is supported by a pin at A and wires BD and CE. If the load P on the beam causes the end C to              be displaced 10 mm downward, determine the normal strain developed in wires CE and BD. (P3)

      6. The force applied at the handle of the rigid lever causes the lever to rotate clockwise about the pin B through an            angle of 2°. Determine the average normal strain developed in each wire. The wires are unstretched when the                lever is in the horizontal position. (P4)

       7. The two wires are connected together at A. If the force P causes point A to be displaced horizontally 2 mm,                  determine the normal strain developed in each wire. (P5)
